Have you been shopping in downtown Bellingham lately? Here’s your excuse- Christmas shopping! The shops downtown have lots of gift-y kind of things. Why not poke around and see what you find? With just over 3 weeks until Christmas, now is the prime time for shopping- there’s still time to get things in the mail, and shopping for gifts can be pleasurable instead of stressful if you start early.
As you know, shopping at local businesses helps to keep money in our community and support our downtown Bellingham core. I also find it to be much more fun that duking it out with the holiday crowds at the mall. Here’s a few Christmas shopping ideas that will keep it local:
Bellingham Coupon Book– Give someone a gift that keeps giving! With coupons for over 25o local businesses, you can’t go wrong.
Sustainable Connections Silent Auction– Going on now through December 5th, check out Sustainable Connections “Bid Local” Online Silent Auction. Local businesses have contributed everything from yoga lessons at Fairhaven Yoga to a private barrel tasting at Dakota Creek Winery to a gift certificate to the RE-Store. You just have until Sunday to bid, so get on it!
Downtown Bellingham Art Walk– Friday, December 3rd, check out the downtown Bellingham art walk. Get in the holiday spirit with some wine and art, and maybe you can find a gift for the art lover in your life.
31st Annual Allied Arts Holiday Festival of the Arts– Over a hundred local artists will be selling their wares, from jewelry to paintings to food (ie, things that make great gifts). There will also be music and activities on the weekends. The Allied Arts Festival of the Arts is located at 3548 Meridian St. Bellingham (just South of Bellis Fair Mall). See their website for hours.
And if you’re not ready to start Christmas shopping quite yet, you can wait for free parking in downtown Bellingham. That’s right, from December 13th to 25th, there will be free parking downtown for all of your Christmas shopping needs. Good luck finding those gifts!
