UPDATE: Did you miss the Ski Swap? There will be a “gear grab” at Bellingham’s Western Washington University on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm.
Students and vendors can sell any type of new or used outdoor gear. WWU or Whatcom Community College students can sell their gear for free, but vendors must pay $10.
The event also will feature a DJ and charity bake sale. To register, contact the Outdoor Center in person or by calling 360-650-3112.
With the weather today, it’s becoming more and more apparent that winter is coming to Bellingham. Whether you dread it or anticipate it can depend on whether or not you plan on heading to Mt. Baker for some skiing or snowboarding.
Next question: Do you need new gear? Do your kids need new gear?
If you want to pick up some gently used skis/board/clothing/etc., you may want to check out the Komo Kulshan Ski Club’s annual Ski Swap. It’s held at Bloedel Donovan Park near Lake Whatcom.
The ski swap runs today from 4-9:30 (Oct 22) and Saturday 9-2 (Oct 23). I recommend getting there as early as possible, this is a very popular event. Last year people were lining up an hour before it started. They operate on a one out, one in basis, so expect to wait in line if you don’t get there early enough.
