There’s a circus in Bellingham!

Bellingham, WA Circus

No, not Barnum & Bailey’s, but the Bellingham Circus Guild.  It’s the home of acrobats, jugglers, and clowns, and they’re here all year long!  Just another benefit of living in a creative town.

I got a chance to see them Tuesday night as part of their monthly variety show fundraiser, Vaudevillingham.  The aerialists twirling from hanging lengths of silk and swings made of rope especially impressed me.  Spirits were high as they moved quickly from act to act, with a funny MC to entertain during scene changes.   Apparently the same act is never repeated, so it’s always a new experience.

I tried to take pictures, but my camera was finicky about the dim lighting, so you’ll just have to go see for yourself!  The next Vaudevillingham will be July 15th, at their warehouse space at Iron Street and Kentucky Street.  There is a show at 8pm and 10pm, with a suggested donation of $5 to $10.

    • Ooh, I love fire dancing! Vaudevillingham is inside, so no fire dancing but they made up for it in other ways. Bellingham does have a thriving performance scene, I’m going to try to write about it all eventually!

  2. […] got it.  For a town of approximately 75,000 people we have an amazing art scene!  We have a circus, a great art walk, and some awesome venues.  You can pretty much see as much art as you can absorb […]
